Digital Marketing Specialist

Location: Albany, NY, or Raleigh, NC

JOB PURPOSE

The Digital Marketing Specialist supports CHMS and its nonprofit association clients by executing day-to-day digital marketing and communications activities for assigned client accounts. This role manages social media content, email marketing, newsletters, and other digital marketing materials, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with approved strategy and brand standards.

The Digital Marketing Specialist focuses on execution and coordination, translating direction from the Director of Communications & Marketing and Association Managers into high-quality, timely marketing deliverables.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Client Digital Marketing Execution

  • Execute digital marketing activities for assigned client accounts, including social media, email marketing, newsletters, and digital announcements.

  • Draft, format, schedule, and distribute e-blasts, newsletters, and marketing emails using approved platforms.

  • Manage assigned client social media accounts across platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and X.

  • Ensure all content aligns with client brand guidelines, messaging, and communication goals.

  • Content Development & Production

  • Draft clear, engaging written content for digital platforms, newsletters, and email campaigns.

  • Adapt content for different audiences and platforms while maintaining consistent messaging.

  • Build basic visual assets using established templates and tools.

  • Coordinate content approvals with Association Managers and the Director of Communications & Marketing.

  • Email Marketing & Campaign Support

  • Support planning and execution of email marketing campaigns related to events, advocacy, membership, and announcements.

  • Follow established segmentation and scheduling practices.

  • Assist with tracking open rates, click-through rates, and engagement metrics.

  • Analytics & Reporting

  • Track performance metrics for social media and email campaigns.

  • Assist in preparing monthly digital marketing reports.

  • Identify trends and share performance insights with the Director of Communications & Marketing.

  • Website & Digital Support

  • Assist with posting and updating content on CHMS and client websites.

  • Support SEO-friendly content practices and digital optimization efforts.

  • Utilize content management systems (CMS), association management systems (AMS), and email platforms as assigned.

  • Collaboration & Quality Control

  • Work closely with Association Managers to gather content, timelines, and approvals.

  • Follow established workflows, deadlines, and quality standards.

  • Escalate sensitive issues, errors, or client concerns to the Director of Communications & Marketing.

  • Support department-wide initiatives and other marketing projects as assigned.
     

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 1–3 years of experience supporting or executing digital marketing campaigns preferred.

  • Experience with email marketing platforms and social media scheduling tools preferred.

  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with digital marketing best practices and analytics.

  • Basic knowledge of website content management systems helpful.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite a plus.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

  • Strong teamwork skills and client-service mindset.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

​Some travel is required for client meetings, conferences, and events.

​Be able to load, transport, and set up conference and other events.

​​​​SALARY

$50,000-$55,000, based on experience
