Capitol Hill Management Services (CHMS) offers internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students interested in Association and Nonprofit Management. Interns gain real-world experience in areas such as member engagement, event planning, communications, advocacy, and more — while working alongside experts in a nationally accredited firm.

What You'll Learn

As a CHMS intern, you’ll be immersed in real-world work that builds your skills and expands your understanding of how nonprofit organizations operate and succeed. Internships are available in the following departments:

​

  • Association Management

  • Conference & Meeting Planning

  • Accounting

  • Marketing & Communications

​

You’ll work alongside professionals in these areas and gain exposure to a variety of essential functions, including:

​

  • Membership Support, Engagement, and Services

  • Leadership and governance

  • Event planning

  • Communications

  • Advocacy

  • Data and Technology

  • Budgeting and Finances

​

You’ll also participate in training and development programs focused on best practices, business skills, networking, and industry knowledge — all designed to enrich your personal and professional growth.

 

Engage and Network

CHMS hosts meetings and events with our client associations, offering opportunities to interact with staff, client leaders, members, and fellow interns. You’ll make valuable connections, contribute to mission-driven work, and gain experience that strengthens your resume and future career opportunities.

 

Application Deadlines

  • Fall Semester: August 15

  • Spring Semester: November 15

  • Summer Term (for credit only): April 15

​

Summer internships are for academic credit only.
Fall and Spring interns are paid $15/hour.
